Pilchuck Glass School, Dale Chihuly Cabin, Stanwood
I took a course with John Reyntiens at Pilchuck Glass School, in the summer of 2006. As a part of the course, we were commissioned by Pilchuck to build stained glass windows for different buildings around the grounds. I asked for my window to be placed in the cabin that Dale Chihuly built for himself the year Pilchuck was founded.
It is a continuation of the the triangle window that it butts up against. Made of mouth-blown glass leaded together in the traditional stained glass manner, it begins with a series of small rectangles that slowly give way to fluidity, an homage to the nature that surrounds the cabin.
